The story of the greatest Polish cyclist and one of the greatest in the history of world amateur cycling. Ryszard Szurkowski (1946-2021) was a double Olympic vice-champion, a four-time medallist of the world championships and the winner of the Peace Race. He was also a 27-time champion of Poland. In 2018, he had an accident during a race in Germany that left him was paralyzed from the head down. The same features of his personality that once made him a great sportsman, allowed him to fight the prospect of once again walking unaided. In this documentary, Ryszard Szurkowski tells the story of his life – both before the accident and after. The film demostrates how sport creates true heroes and how their heroism lasts to the end.
